The batch code is a number assigned to the quality control audit trail that allows anyone, including the consumer, to contact the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica and with that number submit any inquiry about the batch.  Inquiries could be where it was exported to and which registered foreign importer brought the coffee in, who roasted it, and in the Canadian market Canadian Food Inspection Agency uses that batch code to track the coffee to the registered importer and to the retail level.
